The Merritts Brook Green Way AGM is set for 7pm on October 6th 2010 at Shenley Court Hall, Green Meadow Road. The Merritts Brook Green Way is a proposal for a path and cycle way that could link the Linden Road at Bournville Park, via a virtually traffic free route, through the Yachting pool, through Manor Park, Meadowbrook Park and up to Ley Hill Park. The route would open the parks up for further access and usage by all local residents, of all abilities, and provide a safer route to schools. The part of the route from Linden road to Cob lane already exists and only needs sign posting. However the link from Cob lane to Ley hill Park is in a poor state of repair or doesn’t exist at all. The council has completed in May a scoping Feasibility study showing detailed drawings of how part of the route could look. The council have promised to carry out a full consultation with local residents but that may not be for a long time given the current economic climate. The two park areas that most affect local residents and require most work, are Meadowbrook Park and Manor park where it is proposed to build new path/cycle ways allowing all year round access into those parks. Copies of the feasibility study can be downloaded from http://folhpark.wordpress.com/ or copies can be seen at Shenley Court Centre, St. David’s Church, Northfield library or Merritts Brook Greenway A4 rev July 2010a. If any local residents wish to understand more , wish to comment, or see a copy of the feasibility study please contact Graham at 628 8555 or gra1952@live.co.uk. Please also try and attend the AGM to be held on 6th October at 7pm
